EcoEffort.com: Global Commitment... One Effort at a Time

EcoEffort.com is a gathering of like-minded, Eco Conscience people. It is a worldwide movement to clean the planet "One Effort at a Time". The website, it’s programs and resource materials work together to help people all over the world learn more about our delicate Ecosystem.

The project is the vision of Catalina Island California resident Drew Mauck, a veteran web developer. He began working on the concept of EcoEffort in 2003 and with the support of his friends and family, the idea came to life. The site endeavors to help spread the message that we can help repair, restore and protect our Ecosystem, all by making individual efforts at home, at work and at school. The idea of "Efforts" came from Drew's desire to do his part without becoming a fanatic. "I wanted to make an effort or two to do my part." says Drew. "I found that a lot of my friends also made small efforts in their own way. It seems to me that if everyone put forth just a few efforts, the results would be huge. EcoEffort.com was born from that single idea. It's easy once you know what efforts are available to you and that fit into your lifestyle."

The website is made up of 3 separate areas: The EcoWeek Challenge, Programs (at home, work and school) and Free Promotional Material. All three, in conjunction with the website materials and a detailed list of 70 Efforts, are easy and fun ways to save our Ecosystem.

The EcoWeek Challenge: A 7-day plan designed by Drew Mauck to help integrate planet saving ideas into your day-to-day routines. For example,
* Tuesday: Ride Share Day. "Get or Give a Ride to work. It’s easy and Fun. Just one day a week."
* Saturday: Keep it Parked Day. "Shop Online, Take a Bus to the Park, or just stay home. Keep your car Parked!"
* Sunday: Plant the Planet Day: "Use today to help the Planet. Indoors or outdoors, planting is a lot of Fun!"
* All 7 days are listed on the EcoEffort.com site.

The EcoWeek Challenge comes with printable posters that can be uses in the home, workplace or school. These daily ideas are practical and allow busy yet conscientious individuals to make useful efforts to saving our planet.

The Three Programs: Whether at home, work or school, making an effort is a matter of finding the right incentive and making it fun. Each program included resource materials, contest ideas, swag packages and support. Included are T-Shirts, Sweat Shirts, Coffee Mugs, Mouse Pads, Buttons, Stickers, Posters Hats and Bags. There are also reference guides to help organize events and planning. The Programs are free on the website as a guide to making your own Efforts. The Kits range from $200 to $500 depending on how large a group will be participating. Each kit is packed with fun and useful items and supplies can be replenished directly from the EcoEffort.com website Store. Individual item are also available for those wishing to show their support by displaying the EcoEffort.com Logo.

The Big Book of Efforts: This is where you can go to list yourself and be part of what Drew hopes will be the Largest collection of efforts on the planet. Once you click on the Big Book link, you simply add you’re name and select from the 70 Eco Efforts listed. All 70 efforts are listed with a glossary of terms. They are broken up into 5 categories: Recycling, Waste Reduction, Transportation, Water and Earth. The online glossary holds links to detailed explanations for each effort. For example, "Recycle Toner Cartridges" has a link to Earth911.org information about Recycle Toner Cartridges. "Reuse Holiday Decorations and Wrappings" has a link to GreenChoices.org information on Holiday Decorations. "Use Low Flow Water Products" has a link to The EPA information on Low Flow Water Products.

There are only 3 steps to using the Big Book. List your name and location, select the efforts that you either currently make or ones that you intend to make and then add them to your list. Then you click submit and your efforts are counted. With the opportunity to select all or just a few of the efforts, the concept shows it to be a large list of efforts to come. As Drew hopes, the list will be huge. "I envision every person who uses my Big Book to list at least 10 of the 70 efforts." Drew says. "In a very short time, the list will become huge and it will show that making a few effort can add up to one massive, planetary Effort to work with our Ecosystem". We can expect that Drew's vision and personal efforts will shine as the EcoEffort.com website grows globally.
